Comment on the Open Science report

Research drives innovation. Now, more than ever before, advanced information and communications technologies (ICT) drive innovative research.

JISC is investing heavily in developing an e-infrastructure for research, based on the Janet network, to enable researchers across all disciplines to access the tools and resources needed for modern ICT-intensive research.

Networks, grids, data centres, content and collaborative environments are all part of the e-infrastructure. Supporting operations centres, service registries, single-sign on, certificate authorities, training and help-desk services can also be included. By e-Infrastructure we mean the integration of these technologies and organisations to support ICT-intensive research.
